Just published: Fifty-Five Questions for Skeptics

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on December 5, 2018 by Andrew BernhardtApril 20, 2020

I have just published my third book at Amazon.com. It’s called Fifty-Five Questions for Skeptics, and it was written for atheists and agnostics who don’t believe in the God of the Bible or the reliability of the Bible, and who distrust anything a Christian would say to them. Most apologetic books that reach out to skeptics present a lot of good evidence for God, but much of the information fed to the reader comes from second or third-hand sources. I expect the typical hard-core atheist doubts much of what is presented in those books. This book is different. It does not require the reader to believe anything I say. Instead, it dares the skeptical reader to investigate the evidence for … Continue reading →

Fifty-Five Questions

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on May 25, 2018 by Andrew BernhardtJune 23, 2025

Years ago, when I was building my apologetics library, I bought a short book by Bill Cetnar called “Questions for Jehovah Witnesses.” It contains photocopies of pages from various Watchtower publications, with questions for the Jehovah Witness to answer. If you’ve ever had visits from these people, you know you can’t teach them anything from the Bible. They just won’t listen. They’ll only accept what their organization teaches. But they do like to answer questions. For this reason, the approach used in this book works very well. Atheists are also like Jehovah Witnesses: you can’t teach them anything from the Bible. But many atheists are willing to research evidence, so I put together a short book that uses a similar … Continue reading →

“If God is everywhere…”

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on April 30, 2018 by Andrew BernhardtJanuary 24, 2024

“If God is everywhere, how can anything else exist outside of Him? For example, how can God and Satan occupy the same space?” God is everywhere, but that is not the same thing as saying He is everything. God is not a physical being. He is not part of this universe. God is spirit. Physical laws only apply to what is physical. If God chooses to reveal Himself in a physical body (as He did with Jesus – John 1:1,14, Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:20-23, 1 Timothy 3:16), that body can only be in one place at a time. When Jesus was physically present in Jerusalem, He couldn’t physically be in Galilee at the same time. But His physical manifestion does … Continue reading →

Personal Apologetic: Prophecies About Today

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on October 7, 2015 by Andrew BernhardtFebruary 20, 2024

When examined closely, modern-day prophecy fulfillment puts an end to the skeptic’s arguments against the existence of God and the inspiration of the Bible. (Perhaps for this reason, the skeptic won’t examine the evidence.) If only a few prophecies were fulfilled, one could say they happened by chance. If they were written obscurely or symbolicly, their fulfillment could be open to any number of interpretations. But we have already looked at multiple prophecies with recent specific fulfillments, and none have failed. Before moving on in this series, I want to look at one more area: what the Bible says about the conditions of the end times. How does today’s world match up with biblical prophecy? There are quite a few … Continue reading →

Personal Apologetic: The Restoral Of National Israel – Pt 2

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on September 12, 2015 by Andrew BernhardtFebruary 20, 2024

There is a difference between chance occurrence and faith in God. You can rely on what God has said, but you can’t rely on chance. One way to know God exists is seeing Him keep His promises, and one of the strongest examples of God’s promises being fulfilled has to do with the dispersion and latter-day restoral of Israel (Jeremiah 30). In past articles in this series, we’ve looked at how God foretold the history of His dealings with Israel. He promised blessings on them if they would obey Him, and cursings if they didn’t. Israel chose to rebel, and all of the cursings happened one by one. Israel was eventually scattered throughout the world. And yet they retained their … Continue reading →

Cerebro Consciousness Argument

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on May 22, 2015 by Andrew BernhardtOctober 13, 2015

(The following is another approach to my argument for the necessity of the human spirit given in More Than Matter, and Independently Conscious. Imagine you are an X-Man like Charles Xavier, but with much more extreme capabilities. You also have a Cerebro-like machine that allows you to see every human being in the world and know everything there is to know about them. With your superhuman powers, you look at Cerebro’s screen and see billions of human beings at once in infinite detail. You know each person’s exact physical makeup. You can see their every neuron firing. And you fully comprehend what you see. You also know virtually every human being on the screen is self-aware. Each has an independent … Continue reading →

Personal Apologetic: The Restoral Of National Israel – Pt 1

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on October 30, 2014 by Andrew BernhardtNovember 24, 2014

We’ve looked at a few Bible passages that deal with God’s punishment and preservation of the people of Israel over the millenia. There are plenty of additional prophecies similar to the ones mentioned. But I think the strongest prophetic evidence for the existence of God today comes from another related group of prophecies. These prophecies predict the restoration of the nation of Israel in the last days, and the conditions the Jews would find themselves in at that time. We saw how Deuteronomy 28 accurately predicted the history of Israel to their dispersion throughout the world. But the story of Israel does not end in that chapter. Two chapters later we see God’s promise to gather His people together again … Continue reading →

A Personal Apologetic: Introduction to Biblical Prophecy

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on August 7, 2014 by Andrew BernhardtJanuary 24, 2024

Some of the strongest evidence for the existence of God and the inspiration of the Bible comes from prophecy fulfillment. In the next couple of posts, I’m going to give what I believe to be the the biggest examples of verifiable modern-day prophecy fulfillment. But first, I want to show what sets biblical prophecy apart from the predictive statements of other sources. My purpose in this post is not to prove prophecy is real, but to lay the groundwork for the following posts in understanding what biblical prophecy is about. Most people think prophecy is primarily about the prediction of future events. The predictive element is seen in many religions and belief systems, from Chinese Chen to Nostradamus, to the … Continue reading →

A Personal Apologetic: Corrupt Beings

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on March 12, 2014 by Andrew BernhardtFebruary 20, 2024

The world of nature we live in is amazingly complex and well-tuned, from the macroscopic (general cycle of life) level, down to the microscopic level. Virtually all of life works to keep the system in balance and flourishing. In one part of the cycle, bees pollinate flowers so plants can produce fruit. Animals eat the fruit, and in doing so scatter the seeds so the plants can reproduce elsewhere. All of the participants in the cycle benefit. It appears simple when you look at the overall picture, but it is mind-bogglingly complex when you examine the role individual creatures play to keep the cycle going. When we add man into the equation, however, nature tends to get out of balance. … Continue reading →

A Personal Apologetic: Morality and Justice

Andrew Bernhardt's Home Page Posted on March 1, 2014 by Andrew BernhardtMarch 1, 2014

{Again, I have a two part argument. This first part is about man’s moral inclination and a general desire for justice. I don’t consider it as strong an argument as that from consciousness, but I feel it is strong enough to include here. The second part will be about the difference between what man believes morally and how he acts.} Man is a moral being. Regardless of a belief in the existence of God, everyone believes some things are right and other things are wrong. We might have significant differences of opinion on these things, but we do have opinions. If God does not exist, there are no absolute moral standards. Each of us can then define right and wrong … Continue reading →
